About Lesley Scorgie

Lesley Scorgie is the bestselling author of Rich by Thirty: A Young Adult’s Guide To Financial Success published in January 2007 and printed in English, French and Korean. Lesley owns and operates Rich By Inc., a financial consulting company dedicated to providing education, resources and tools for a variety of demographics. Lesley’s passion is to encourage financial literacy, a topic she has enthusiastically promoted through speaking and writing since 2001.

She has made numerous television appearances including The Oprah Winfrey Show and Montel Williams, and her financial writing has appeared in publications such as Unlimited magazine, the Calgary Herald and the Calgary Sun. Lesley has worked in the banking and securities industries and as a spokesperson for Canada Savings Bonds.

In 2005, Lesley Scorgie graduated from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Commerce degree in marketing and finance. She currently works diligently to promote financial literacy through speaking, educating and writing. In addition to this Lesley dedicates substantial time, energy and resources to non-profits within her community.

Her early years

Lesley began learning about financial literacy starting at age 10 when she made her first investment in a Canada Savings Bond. Since that time, she has developed an investment strategy that is unique, effective and suited to young people. Lesley believes strongly in making financial literacy simple so that more people can secure their financial future. Her view on wealth is that money gives people freedom to make choices and decisions that allow them to chase after their dreams.

Launch of Richbythirty.com

Richbythirty.com was launched in 2004, three years prior to the release of Rich By Thirty, the book. The website became Lesley’s hub for spreading the message of financial literacy to the world. The Rich By Thirty newsletter launched in 2005 and quickly attracted interest from contributing writers and financial enthusiasts. Two people who have donated substantial time and effort to these initiatives include: Marco den Ouden and Erin Shaw. Lesley has received hundreds of positive e-mails about richbythirty.com, the newsletters, her book and the impact of her speaking engagements.
